The juice of the acai berry has become of interest to the world outside of it’s native growing habitat. Those who have lived around acai berry producing palms, found from Central to Southern America, are fortunate to have been accustomed to the healing powers that have only recently been revealed to the rest of the world. Acai berries have been moved to the top of the class in its antioxidant abilities, nutrient rich and mineral rich contents as well as healthy Omega Fatty Acids, Amino Acids, Fiber and Iron. The process through which the acai berry goes through is simple but carefully done.
The berries are harvested by hand and floated down the Amazon river overnight. Next the acai berries are placed in a machine with water and are agitated together to separate the pulp from the acai berry’s seed pit and this results in a thick fruit puree. This puree is either packaged and consumed or it is spread out to be freeze-dried. Once the berry puree is freeze-dried it will then be ground up into a powder while still frozen. The majority of the juice products that are sold contain the powdered acai berry added to water for an acai berry juice or it is added to a fruit juice blend. Most of the acai juice is combined with other strong flavored fruit juices to mellow out the unique tropical taste the acai berry gives to a juice. Other times acai berry juice is added to other high-antioxidant fruit juices to make a truly power-packed antioxidant drink. The acai berry is reported to have a flavor that is hard to describe, many common descriptions of how it tastes is that it is similar to a bitter chocolate.
There are many reasons for a person to drink acai juice and the most obvious being the high levels of antioxidants found within it. Antioxidants prevent damage from occurring to cell structures. The breakdown of cell structures leads to many diseases, the aging process and many more significant problems or concerns in the body. The antioxidant absorbstion in acai berries are made possible through the vitamins and minerals contained in the fruit and the vitamins and minerals also provide their own benefits to the body through their specialized active components. The Omega Fatty Acids affect inflammation and cell function, mood and behavior, and cell signaling. While the Amino acids in the acai berry are responsible for the function or regulation of protein. And of course the fiber and iron are needed by the body to move foods through the digestive tract by the fiber absorbing water in the body and the iron is responsible for oxygen transport throughout the body, which results dramatically in the level of fatigue, performance and even immunity to infection. It is amazing one small, purple-colored marble of a fruit can do so much for the body. Drinking the juice of the acai berry, is obviously a healthful choice for benefiting the body. It has been called “nature’s multivitamin”, and apparently this is correct.
